In the following article, you are going to find out some information about the Think and Grow Rich Movie.
The movie was released in 2017, together with Napoleon Hill Foundation.
It is a docudrama movie with some of today’s famous entrepreneurs and thought leaders. It also features some of the stories from the original book, which was released in 1937.
I am going to mention how I stumbled upon the book and eventually how I watched the movie.

So let’s start with how I came across the movie, Think and Grow Rich movie.
Actually, the full name of the movie is, Think and Grow Rich – The Legacy.

From 1st Napoleon Hill Book – Law of Succes to Think and Grow Rich
It was 2011 and I was still working in Germany – Bayern. Meaning I used to drive about 700 km (500 miles) every other week to Bayern and back to Slovakia.
Even though the average velocity was usually 120 km/h (75mph), I felt bored, so I wanted somehow to shorten the time with audiobooks.
One of the very first audiobooks I came across was Napoleon Hills, The Law of Success.
Then I found a PDF of this book and start to read it as well. It has more than 1,000 pages.
As I was checking videos on Youtube, and reading other books, it led me to another Napoleon Hill Book, called Think and grow rich.
I admit, that I did not know what to expect and my skepticism did not allow me to spend money on it, so I found a downloadable version of the book.
I have read it, liked it, read it again and then I bought the actual book.
And another one for my girlfriend.
I am not gonna say that it has changed my life in one moment
No, there was no breakthrough in my life, – not that I am aware of as of this writing.
But the thoughts inside the book were so profound that they made me think and I started to compare them with real life.
The more I read the book, the more I took from it.
At the beginning of 2019, I did find the movie on YouTube and watched it.
It turned out that whoever uploaded the movie violated the right of the authors and it was removed from YouTube.
Think and Grow Rich -The Legacy Movie
The movie starts with a brief introduction of Napoleon Hill and Andrew Carnegie.
How Andrew Carnegie asked Napoleon Hill if he would be willing to dedicate his life to documenting the secret of the most successful people at that time.
To name a few:
- Henry Ford – American industrialist, business magnate, and founder of the Ford Motor Company
- Thomas Edison – Was an inventor and businessman who has been described as America’s greatest inventor
- Mary Pickford – Also known as Mary Pickford. She was a Canadian-American film actress and producer with a career that lasted five decades.
- The Wright Brothers -Two brothers Orville and Wilbur. They were two American aviation pioneers generally credited with inventing, building, and flying the world’s first successful motor-operated airplane.
- Fannie Hurst – American novelist and short-story writer whose works were highly popular during the post-World War I era.
- Alexander Graham Bell – A Scottish-born inventor, scientist, and engineer who is credited with inventing and patenting the first practical telephone.
- Mahatma Gandhi – An Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India’s independence from British rule.

Andrew wanted Napoleon to share the formula with everyone else, so everyone has the opportunity to fulfill their dream.
Since 1937, there are more than 100 million copies of the book Think and Grow Rich and even 80 years later the book continues to inspire normal people to accomplish their dreams.
Thomas Edison
The movie continues with Thomas Edison’s story that you might be familiar with.
He as a kid received a letter inside a sealed envelope from school for his mother.
His mother read the message and then said:
“Your son… is a genius. This school is too small for him… And doesn’t have enough teachers to train him.
Please teach him yourself“.
So she did teach him.
After 51 years, Edison sitting in his office finds the envelope by accident, and for the first time, he gets to read it.
It goes:
“Ms. Edison, your son is addled…
he is mentally slow and unable to think clearly.
We won’t let him come to school anymore. …“
After Thomas Edison read the letter, he proudly takes a look at his mother’s portrait and smiled.
We won’t go through each story in the movie, since I don’t want to spoil it for you, in case you have not watched the movie yet.
But I am going to mention other stories from the original book that are used in the movie, like short films.
- How Edward C. Barns became a partner with Thomas Edison
- Henry Ford’s story from 1919, is about how he sued the Chicago Tribune for writing an article stating that Henry Ford is ignorant and incapable of thought.

Between the stories, there are today’s cultural icons, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders, sharing their opinions and thoughts on that original book.
I am going to mention some of these people in a bit, mostly those that I personally find interesting.
It is understandable that you might prefer different figures.
My Thoughts About the Movie
Well, first, I did not expect much from the movie.
The book where on each site is a very deep thought, can’t be converted into a 105 min movie.
But I was curious and watched the movie.
The first impression – I liked it. And I still do.
I like they have asked recent successful people about how they got to the point where they don’t have to struggle anymore, at least financially.
Every current entrepreneur or a person shares, how the book changes his or her life. How it taught them to think differently.
It is funny, how you read the book, visualize the story of … Edison. or Fords, and in the movie- they show it very close to you to your imagination. The movie was created with Napoleon Hill Foundation.
My Favorite Figures in the Movie
Just briefly let me g through the figures I personally find very interesting.
Nick Lowery
(Speaker, Harvard MPA $ NFL Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame)
He was asked to talk to a certain 8th-grade football team about their performance, actually to one of the players.
The thing was that this team kept losing, and became demoralized.
He decided to drive there and talk to them.
It was actually pretty simple advice that has been applicable for young teams and for NFL teams as well:
“The only thing you have to do right now is to use all of your focus and bring all of your passion, for the next 2 hours“
He challenged them to do that.
They won the game, and they did not lose the other game. 3 months later 16 of those 22 guys got into the basketball team, and they finished the regular season undefeated.
Now, Nick explains further, that this wasn’t his power. He only helped them to see the power they had.
Towards the end of the movie, he reveals that Napoleon Hill’s vision is that happiness is absolutely created not through riches; The richness is in giving happiness to other people.
Jim Stovall
He says, that he has been poor and he has been rich. Being rich is much better.
But Jim says, that rich means “I don’t have to change my time for someone else’s money“.
His story starts with him being 17 and becoming an NFL player.
He had all requirements to be a successful football player, and it seemed Jim’s future was set.
Then he was diagnosed with a condition that would cause him to lose sight.
10 years later, he woke up one morning and realized that he was totally blind.
As he explains, “the thoughts, doubts and the fears, that came over me, would be impossible to describe”.
He was 29 years old, never met a blind person before, and had no idea what to do with his life.
Jim moved to a tiny room, with his telephone, radio, and tape recorder and never wanted to leave the room again.
Someone brought him a white cane and said to him that this cane will be always with him…
On one side of his chair was this white cane and on the other side were tapes, that people gave him.
These tapes were audiobooks and one of them was Think and Grow Rich.
He realized that there is not much he can do, but he can think. So Jim changed his mind and the whole world changed as well.
I was really impressed by Jim, and have heard his story more than dozen times.
Derek R. Mills

He actually talks about his favorite story from the book Think and Grow Rich, the story of Edward C. Barnes.
How E. C. Barns with no money got on a freight train with one vision only. To become a business partner with Thomas Edison.
In the later stage of the movie, Derek R. Mills reveals the breakthrough he had while working late hours in the office and not having time to spend with his family.
He has had enough and decided to set new standards for his life.
3 years later, his income is10x higher, and working only half of the time he used to do before.
Rob Dyrdek

Here is one of his quotes from the movie:
“The harder thing to master is faith. Because faith is the piece that is going to give you the ability to continue thru the highs and lows… When you get to that level, you feel like you are manipulating reality“
These were breakthroughs these people had. It is interesting how a single moment can change your life.

Law of Attraction Scientifically Proven
And I want to mention one more person.
A very interesting study was done by Prof. Dr. Bernd-Helmut Kroeplin. He was a German engineer, scientist, and founder of TAO Group.
He was asked questions like:
- Can thoughts change the world?
- Can they create things?
The result?
Yes, he has proven that thoughts can really impact reality, and it is possible to change your physical body as well.
In the images above, we see the water drops after they evaporated and the shape they left under different conditions.
As I mentioned at the beginning, I am a skeptical person and somehow did not believe these claims.
But the more I look around (reading books, listening to podcasts) I came to the conclusion that this study is real.
Eventually, he basically paraphrases Napoleon Hill, saying:
“You are, what you think“.
(Prof. Kroeplin, unfortunately, passed away on 1 January 2019).

Of course, the book is much better, but the movie is like a brief modern version of the movie.
The moviemakers did a good job, although I believe there is a bigger potential and the movie could have been even better.
But I am not a movie maker, so I can’t really judge.
Out of 10 stars, I would give the movie at least 8.5 🙂
