How Much Can A Beginner Make In Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is a regular business model.
It can be compared for example drop shipping (eg. Salehoo) or any other online business.

A lot of people start with affiliate marketing since it is considered the simplest business model.

I am not saying it is easy, but it is very simple:

  • Get visitors to your website
  • Help them to make decision
  • Get commission

The truth is that there is a lot of work behind these 3 steps.

But is it worth it?
And how much can a beginner make in affiliate marketing?

Let’s say that a beginner is a person that started out exactly a year ago.

How much does he make?

From $0 to $1,000 per month.

Why such a range?

Let’s deep into it a bit deeper but before we start I would like to make one important announcement:

Be Transparent

In other words, you have to use Affiliate Disclaimer (or Disclosure) and Earnings Disclaimer on your website.

This is actually required, and every legitimate course teaching affiliate marketing should have such info in the very first lessons.

Generally speaking, you need to have:

  • Disclaimer saying that you may earn commission
  • Make sure to display the correct information
  • Some Affiliate programs have their own policies – for example, Amazon.
So make sure to provide the proper information based on Affiliate Program you are associated with.

Beginner in Affiliate Marketing

How Much Can A Beginner Make In Affiliate Marketing

A lot of people start affiliate marketing as a side hustle.

That being said, a lot of folks still go to 9-5 and it is difficult to estimate when they start learning enough to quit that job.

It depends on many different things:

  • Niche they choose
  • How much time do they spend on content creation
  • Is the content SEO optimized
  • And many other things, like personal attitude, willingness to push through…

A lot of people that have an OK job are not really forced to leave and therefore this affiliate marketing business goes slow…
…in fact, in many cases, it takes years until it starts generating consistent revenue.

It is always important to realize, Why do you want to do this?

I am not going to preach about how to motivate or how to ask yourself a why question on 8 different levels…

But let me only mention a few points:

I know a person that was working in the insurance business.
And one day as having lunch he just realizes that this was not for him. He just left the canteen and never looked back.

3 years later, he was already working on his 3rd website.

  • The 1st one he sold for $40,000
  • the 2nd one for less, for $30,000

He wouldn’t sell the sites for that much if they wouldn’t produce revenue in the first place.
It is safe to say, that he as a beginner was making 4 figures on a regular basis.

But he was doing it full-time.

Is this a beginner?

Well, it depends on what angle you looking at it.

For a person in business that does affiliate marketing for 5+ years, making 5 figures a month, this example above is considered a beginner.

Others, that already trying to get into business he is advanced already.

How to get there?

It is always the same story, and you might have heard it already.

  • be consistent with your content creation

It doesn’t matter whether it is a YouTube or a Website – just be consistent and have a plan.

A plan of specific articles/videos that you want to create the content about.

Of course – in fact, a lot of people starting internet marketing actually started as affiliate marketers.

It is recommended to learn a few skills, though.

As the most important thing is to follow certain guidelines when it comes to content creation.

In other words, you want to have your content SEO optimized.
Now it is nothing to be afraid of.

I know a lot of gurus make a huge deal out of it… the truth is, if you are able to craft great, in-depth content about a specific topic, you have a great chance to rank in the top 5 results, in SERP.

I admit it is not always straightforward and that’s why it is always recommended to go through some step-by-step training.

The purpose of having SEO-friendly content is to get organic traffic.

Work For Free

Every business takes time.
The same applies to an affiliate marketer.

So bear in mind that you as a beginner in affiliate marketing will be working for free, for at least 6 months.

In other words, don’t expect any revenue from the work you put in.

At the same time let me assure you that there is no such system that generates your income on autopilot.
I am aware of these “offers” that are available on ClickBank, WarriorPlus, JVZoo, or Muncheye.

Of course, some of the courses here are legit but expensive.

Do you have $1,000 for Super Affiliate System Pro by Jonh Crestani?

Because if you do, you can see results much faster.

By paying for the traffic.

But it is not recommended for beginners.
With the course though, that John offers, you might have some success and in a few months, your ROI might be even positive…

In case you don’t have an extra budget for such a high-ticket course, you must rely on organic traffic.
Also called free traffic, but at the end of the day, it is not free.

You write 100 articles (every 1,500 words) and then you get the “free” traffic… well. for the time you were writing the articles you had to eat, and pay bills, right?

But think about it as this is a long-term strategy.
And if your content is evergreen, you can see the “free” traffic to your website for the next year or two… maybe even more.

How Much Can You Make a Day with Affiliate Marketing

Let’s assume that you have some traffic, based o the effort we mentioned above.

If you are an Amazon Associate and steel stuff that cost a few hundred dollars ($200 to $700), the commission you get is about 3%.

If the visitor of your website follows your affiliate link and purchases one such item you make anywhere from $6 to $20.

Every successful affiliate marketer knows that this is scalable; the more visitors he gets, the bigger the revenue he or she makes.

Now add on top of it:

  • Joins different and/or additional affiliate programs.
  • Have more content on your website

And it is possible to make $50 to $100 a day.

Can You Get Rich With Affiliate Marketing?

Yes, it is possible to get right with affiliate marketing.

And by rich let’s assume to make $100,000 per year.

This is definitely doable, although it won’t happen to everyone and of course, it takes at least 3 to 6 years.

But if you like to create content (whether on Youtube or Blog) you can definitely become rich.

The best part of affiliate marketing is that you can scale up the business.
There are several ways

  • Paid Ads Google, or Social Media (Don’t spend on ads more than you make 🙂 )
  • Outsource some work (typical of a writer)
  • Drive traffic from different channels (Social Media, Email Marketing)

Let me mention once again the 2nd point – the copywriter you hire.

Make sure to train him well, You want him to create at least 80% of such content as you would do.
You can always make some corrections afterward and it probably takes a few months until he writes in a way that you can entirely rely on him.

But that’s the goal.

Once he keeps creating the content for your first website, you can create a 2nd website in a different niche.
Hire another writer and keep doing this until you have 5 or 6 websites.

Sure you have some costs paying the writers, but the revenue is much higher and with this method, you easily make 5 figures per month (even more).

But make sure to get your first website to a certain stage.
That means

  • You should know what you do in erm of SEO
  • Consistent traffic (at least 1,000 per day)
  • Have some budget for paid traffic

How much do you want to earn?

Regardless of the number/figure, I am pretty sure, anything that is more than your current salary is great.

Go for it.

The number of people with internet connections still goes up.

People now spend more online than before and 2020 and 2021 taught a lot of people how to make purchases online.

Jump into the train as well and take some portion of billions of dollars that are in the affiliate marketing business.

Thank You For Reading,

How much does a beginner affiliate marketer make?

A beginner makes between $50 to $1,000 a month. It all depends on the niche and how high the competition is within the niche.
Also, it is worth mentioning that a beginner in affiliate marketing is a person who has a website and works on content for at least 1 year.

In other words, a person that creates a website today might not earn a dime for another year. Assuming he or she creates content on a weekly basis.

How much money can you really make from affiliate marketing?

You can make from several hundred to a couple of thousands of dollars per month. Affiliate marketers who are in business for more than 16 months, usually have at least 2 streams of income, eg:

  • from Ads
  • from Affiliate marketing

I personally know people that are in business for more than 5 years, making close to $100,000 a year.

Can beginners do affiliate marketing?

Sure thing. All successful affiliate marketers were beginners at one point.
So there is no other way to start as a beginner, don’t you think? 🙂

Is affiliate marketing hard for beginners?

It depends on your previous experience.
Usually, for people that have no experience with any sort of business, affiliate marketing seems like a hard job.

Those that already tried business and failed, are better prepared for temporary failure, so it is not so hard for them.

Generally speaking, Affiliate marketing is a simple business model and accessible to people with no budget (or low budget).

In my personal opinion, it is the best way how to start your own business.
