{"id":20992,"date":"2022-06-20T19:07:44","date_gmt":"2022-06-20T17:07:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/setaffiliatebusiness.com\/?p=20992"},"modified":"2023-05-30T09:38:08","modified_gmt":"2023-05-30T07:38:08","slug":"is-affiliate-marketing-a-pyramid-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/setaffiliatebusiness.com\/cz\/is-affiliate-marketing-a-pyramid-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Affiliate Marketing a Pyramid Scheme?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Have you tried to make money with affiliate marketing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe you have even tried some courses on affiliate marketing. <br>You joined a certain affiliate program and tried to promote a specific product but with no success. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t worry, this happens to all of us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The affiliate marketing industry is vast and for newbies, it is not easy to spot possible fraudulent activity. <br>For example, some programs offer you to make an affiliate commission only if you pay for membership and promote the same membership to others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is that recruitment?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, in this case, it might be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Does it mean that affiliate marketing is a pyramid scheme?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No, it is not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let me explain what affiliate marketing is, what the pyramid scheme is, and what is the difference. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-1d14e2f8\"><div class=\"gb-inside-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">Is Affiliate Marketing a Pyramid Scheme?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Affiliate&nbsp;Marketing is not a pyramid scheme.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A pyramid scheme has a top-down structure whereas affiliate&nbsp;marketing doesn&#8217;t have any vertical structure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Affiliate&nbsp;marketing is a commission-based business model where the affiliate marketer gets paid when people purchase products or services using the affiliate&nbsp;link.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is basically an online&nbsp;version of &#8220;word of mouth&#8221; communication:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The prospect is interested in a certain product\/service<\/li><li>He searches for advice or information (on Google)<\/li><li>Lands on a website (or youtube)<\/li><li>He is informed and educated<\/li><li>Then he clicks&nbsp;on an affiliate link that redirects to the merchant page<\/li><li>When he buys, the&nbsp;affiliate&nbsp;marketer gets a commission.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Result? <br>Everyone&#8217;s happy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The customer made an educated decision<\/li><li>The merchant sold products without spending money on advertising<\/li><li>The affiliate marketer gets the commission<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is Pyramid Scheme?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A pyramid scheme is an &#8220;organization&#8221; where people make money from recruiting new members, promising them high returns in a very short period of time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New members are &#8220;forced&#8221; to hire other members, otherwise, they won&#8217;t make any money. This is a fraudulent activity and it is illegal in most countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of these companies know how to recruit new members without realizing so: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Michael&#039;s Pyramid Scheme  - The Office US\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/lC5lsemxaJo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; let&#8217;s say coffee machines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On his blog\/website, he describes several coffee machines, models, technical specs, pros, and cons and provides other informational content. <br>The blog\/website is written in a form that when people search for a specific term related to this topic they find either his or other relevant content. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These people\/visitors (also called audience) are informed and based on the information they make a purchase decision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By clicking on an affiliate link and following the link they might purchase the product. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When they do, then everyone is happy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>The affiliate marketer gets a commission, <\/li><li>The vendor sells products and <\/li><li>The customer is happy because made a good decision. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pyramid Scheme &#8211; Especially when you enjoy creating content. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-03f0cf82\"><div class=\"gb-inside-container\">\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No Need To Purchase the Product?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>And I know this might bring a lot of questions, but just step back and think about this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>when you come to your electronic store &#8211; does the seller owns every single TV or camera he sells? <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But he or she is able to give you educative information about each model. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s the task of every affiliate marketer &#8211; to provide valuable information about stuff, including pros and cons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let me put it this way:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you know how to properly research you can ethically become an authority within any industry (or niche). After the purchase, you are literally  &#8220;bombarded&#8221; with upsells, and if you are not careful, you might end up spending several hundred dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case you find the &#8220;skip&#8221;
